Skin Allergies

Explanation

Skin allergies, also known as adverse immune reaction to agents manifested on the skin, are diagnosed when the skin reacts to an allergen, causing an immune response. Common causes include plants, metals, chemicals, soaps, cosmetics, food allergies, insect bites, and medications like antibiotics, pain relievers, and antihistamines. Symptoms include redness, itching, swelling, blisters, and dry, leathery skin. Diagnosis depends on the individual’s response to the allergen.
