When parasites infect the skin, they can cause a number of different symptoms and discomforts. These conditions are referred to as parasitic skin diseases. Most of the time, but not always, these diseases are associated with cleanliness conditions.
Parasitic skin diseases are shown below:
- Mite Sarcoptes Scabiei: The mite Sarcoptes scabiei causes scabies, a skin condition. It is very common and itchy, causing rashes and blisters.
- Tungiasis: The sand flea spreads the disease, also known as "sand flea disease." The sand flea spreads Tunga penetrans, which results in a sore, painful bump on the skin.
- Cutaneous Larva Migrans (CLM) a skin condition that manifests as a rash or track moving across the skin, are the result of Ancylostoma braziliense larvae.
- Pediculosis: Lice infestations, like Pediculus humanus capitis (head lice) or Pediculus humanus corporis (body lice), make the skin itch and irritate it a lot.
- Myiasis: Infestation with fly larvae on your skin, such as Chrysops spp. or Wohlfahrtia spp., can damage and irritate it.
- Strongyloides stercoralis: The larvae of Strongyloides stercoralis cause Strongyloidiasis of the skin, which results in a rash and itching.
