Explanation
When the immune system attacks healthy skin cells and tissues by accident, it can cause autoimmune skin diseases. These diseases cause redness, damage, and different skin symptoms. They can be mild to serious, and they can happen on different parts of the skin or body.
Most common autoimmune skin diseases
Pemphigus
A group of autoimmune skin diseases that cause blisters and rashes on the skin and mucous tissues.
Scleroderma
An autoimmune disease that makes the skin and other parts of the body swell and thicken, which can hurt blood vessels and organs and make the skin tight and hard.
Lupus
A long-term autoimmune disease that can affect the skin, joints, kidneys, and lungs, among other places. It can cause rashes, hair loss, and joint pain, among other things.
Dermatitis Herpetiformis
An autoimmune skin disease that causes rashes that are itchy and blister. These rashes usually show up on the cheeks, elbows, and knees.
Morphea
a rare autoimmune skin disease that causes patches of skin that doesn’t look right. The skin often gets discoloured, thickens, and scars.
